In November, 2018, the USA’s Anti-Female Genital Mutilation law was deemed unconstitutional by a judge in Michigan. In April 2019 the Federal government decided to concede to this ruling. GenitalAutonomySociety.org believes that any Forced Genital Mutilation/Modification without medical necessity is a violation of that person’s human rights and that a special law is not required. We support organizations worldwide that are attempting to put an end to all genital mutilations independent of assigned gender at birth. Please register at our site to show your support. Create Change
Here is a list of things you may be able to do now, as well as things you may be able to sign-up to assist with:
- Check out sites that provide definitions of penis, foreskin, etc (i.e. brittanica.com) and send them feedback to get proper attention and detail given to foreskin and/or circumcision facts.
- Go to Cancer sites (i.e. American Cancer Society) and give them feedback to give proper information (i.e. do not use the word “uncircumcise.”)
- Search for the words “circumcise,” “circumcised,” “circumcision” or “foreskin” on Facebook and GoFundMe for opportunities to educate.
- When out and about at shopping locations (baby stores, Walmart, Target, etc.) and put informational cards in places where people that are likely having a child will see it. Greeting cards for people that are pregnant is a good example.
- Check out educational institutions and museums where there is a display of the male genitalia and speak out if the display does not show an intact penis. Credit: Tara Nova Draegan for doing this in Vancouver, BC at Science World
- Go to “https://www.customizedinc.com/customer-care/contact-us/” and ask that they give information for intact penis care and to remove reference(s) to circumcision reducing penile cancer risk (according to American Cancer Society).
- In the following e-book, there is a list of school texts (in the references section) that do not cover the anatomy of the intact penis; attempt to contact the publishers and request that they send out an addendum to the owners of their book and to stop distributing their current book: https://books.google.nl/books?id=-IMk5TXEdWQC&pg=PA17&lpg=PA17&dq=An%20Analysis%20of%20the%20Accuracy%20of%20the%20Presentation%20of%20%20%20%20%20the%20Human%20Penis%20in%20Anatomical%20Source%20Materials&source=bl&ots=wyWiSzZXF1&sig=oZ1qqaQ4XQKbT7NExc4LwkG5VOA&hl=en&sa=X&ei=5J_AVL6RDcWvU-OphOAC&ved=0CCsQ6AEwAg&fbclid=IwAR2Boowf6rYL2Xpaaq4BbmTrRzr0lbGft64tUqYvPp8fcrTFpkWL5-JB5Is#v=onepage&q=An%20Analysis%20of%20the%20Accuracy%20of%20the%20Presentation%20of%20%20%20%20%20the%20Human%20Penis%20in%20Anatomical%20Source%20Materials&f=false
- If you’re genitally mutilated, make sure the medical system knows about the ill-effects. Go to your doctor and ask them to document the “complications” of your “circumcision.” For instance, identify any keratinization of your glans, tight skin and scrotum skin on the shaft.
- If you were genitally mutilated as a minor, file a complaint with the hospital/clinic and with the local authorities where it was done. i.e. https://johnadkison.blogspot.com/2018/10/filed-criminal-complaint-for.html
- Go to dating sites, create fake profiles (as a male on gay sites and female on straight ones) and ask men if they are circumcised.
- Contact providers and let them know your feelings on the topic. www.yourwholebaby.org has kits that can be sent to providers. Here’s a tracking list:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Sryhu0ryQ7RFiyiwbv3UPmvEWFsJyPLeVsoC3Wz3nkY/edit?usp=sharing - Find out when your hospital and/or local government has a public comment meeting where the public is allowed to speak to the board. John Sambrook has done this in Kirkland, WA: https://youtu.be/u1g3uhomMvc
- Start or participate in a petition directed at your state. Here’s an example:
https://www.change.org/p/washington-state-house-make-genital-mutilation-of-minors-explicitly-illegal-in-washington-state- Here’s a letter that was written to the state representatives (found on the state’s website) regarding the initiation of the petition:

- Here’s a letter that was written to the state representatives (found on the state’s website) regarding the initiation of the petition:
- Write to your favorite talk shows (i.e. NPR) and request that they interview your favorite intactivist speakers (i.e. Anthony Losquadro from Intaction, Brian Earp and/or Brendon Marotta, the director of American Circumcision)
- Reach out to news organizations and notify them of upcoming events. Daniel Rold currently maintains a database to make this easy.
